ENAR speaks at Web Summit 2022
Web Summit is regarded as the place to go to discover the future of technology in the world. With nearly 70 000 attendees, ENAR was privileged to attend this year’s conference in Lisbon, share our vision and mission for a more inclusive Europe, and the role tech plays in making that possible. Over the course of 2 panel interventions, ENAR Director General, Kim Smouter spoke about the need for tech to be an ally and include an anti-racist perspective at all levels, whether in representation, algorithms reproducing discrimination, or content moderation on social platforms.

Through stands and side events, we were equally thrilled to discover Black community-led initiatives by Black Excellence and Black Innovation Alliance which showcased talented artists and tech entrepreneurs, highlighting the often unseen and untapped potential of racialised individuals.
The Black Excellence – Global aims to connect black makers and shakers from around the Globe. It is a community of entrepreneurs committed to inspire black leadership, and also a platform where entrepreneurs can share innovative improved concepts and practices.
Black Innovation Alliance is an ecosystem building institution dedicated to closing the racial wealth gap through the direct support of Black-led innovator support organizations in service to Black entrepreneurs, tech founders and creative technologists.
We are thankful to Web Summit for building a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion platform within the tech conference with so many different panels and activists, and for understanding the importance of representation.
