Equal@work initiative

ENAR's engagement with businesses is particularly important in our work to promote equality in the labour market. Corporate partners can contact ENAR’s Director, Michaël Privot: michael[at]enar-eu.org

ENAR's Equal@work Initiative (previously known as the Ad Hoc Expert Group on Promoting Equality in Employment) is a pioneering initiative, launched in 2009, bringing together businesses committed to diversity and inclusion, anti-racist civil society and other relevant stakeholders to find solutions to ensure the full participation of ethnic minorities in the labour market. It also enables the sharing of best practices and initiatives promoting equality in employment that have been undertaken by private companies, trade unions and governments.

The added value of the ENAR Equal@work initiative is the creation of a multi-stakeholder dialogue, which broadens our respective horizons, generates trust and inspires innovation.

The initiative aims to:
  • Create a safe multi-stakeholder space to discuss in depth common issues of concern and create new alliances;
  • Share, duplicate and improve best practices in HR and diversity management;
  • Better understand our different organizational worlds, habits and cultures, which can contribute to the well-being of all employees, from operational level to top executives, and enhance the resilience and the long-term growth of the company;
  • Initiate tools, foster innovation and support the development of sharpened company profile in matters of corporate social responsibility for partner companies;
  • Create an agenda for future actions: setting common advocacy priorities and joint advocacy strategies both at national and European level;
  • Make ends meet: bridging the gap between companies and ethnic minority communities and migrants.
