Policy issues
Anti-discrimination & equality
Everyone has the right to live a life free from discrimination. One of ENAR’s key priorities is to combat discrimination and promote equality.
Migration and integration
As a network concerned with the rights of all ethnic minorities in the EU, ENAR aims to promote the development of progressive migration and integration policies, i.e. ensure that the rights of third country nationals are respected and that migration, and related policies and practices, do not undermine ENAR’s vision.
Social and economic inclusion
One of the biggest challenges facing the European Union is to promote the social and economic inclusion of ethnic and religious minorities. One of ENAR’s key priorities is to redress disadvantage and promote the social and labour market inclusion of ethnic and religious minorities.
Fundamental rights
There is an increasing emphasis on discrimination as a single phenomenon as opposed to an experience that impacts on a range of difference groups in different ways. ENAR’s goal is to ensure that the specific focus on racism, and its different forms, is a core aspect of single equality and fundamental rights approaches
Education
Education remains at the heart of promoting anti-racism, both from the perspective of fostering intercultural societies respectful of difference, and in addressing the legacy of disadvantage and discrimination experienced by ethnic and religious minorities in Europe today. However, educational inequality and discrimination in European education systems continues to be widespread. ENAR aims to ensure that the EU member states address racism and offer equity to ethnic minorities in education and training.
